Course Background
The Abrasive Wheels course covers safe selection, mounting and safe use of abrasive wheels (con-saws and angle grinders).
This course is suitable for all persons who work with abrasive wheels (whether mounting wheels and / or operating the equipment) for grinding or cutting operations in any environment where there is a need to be in compliance with the statutory requirements for using cutting or grinding wheels. It is also suitable for anyone who would like to improve their safety and reduce potential risks when using these grinding or cutting wheels.
Course Duration
The course takes up to 2.5 hours duration based on a group of twelve persons. The certification for successful completion of the course is valid for 3 years.
Course Objectives
At the end of the training course participants should have the ability carry out the safe selection, mounting and safe use of abrasive wheels (like con-saws and angle grinders) in accordance with the relevant regulations.

- Pre-use checks including:
– Workplace checks
– Machine checks
– Personal checks including PPE (EN 166 B – Safety Goggles and EN 166 B face visors)
– Use of the Equipment; - After use checks;
- Practical assessments.
The course involves candidate participation and the emphasis emphasis of the course on the practical elements of the training.
Course Award
Participants who successfully complete the training will receive a Certificate of Training from Clive Kelly Safety Ltd.
